Sam Brown Responds to Rosen and Biden Giving $3 Billion Handout to Billionaire for Train Project

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Ahead of a visit to Nevada by President Biden and Sen. Jacky Rosen, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sam Brown released the following statement in response their handout of $3 billion to a billionaire’s train project:

“This $3 billion government handout could easily have been structured as a secured loan that would protect taxpayers. Instead, it’s an outright grant. In other words, heads, the billionaire wins if the project is successful; tails, we taxpayers lose if it isn’t,” said Sam Brown, Republican challenger for the U.S. Senate. “This $3 billion should have gone to: securing the borders; delivering school choice for parents; enhancing public safety; or supporting veterans and military families. Instead, Jacky Rosen delivered a $3 billion handout to a private equity billionaire, paid for by the American taxpayer.”

Background: President Joe Biden and Sen. Jacky Rosen are in Nevada to tout their multi-billion dollar handout for a privately-owned train route in Southern Nevada. “Brightline West” is owned by Fortress Investment Group, a large wealth management firm founded by billionaire businessmen.
